America’s Fastest Growing Transportation/Logistics Firms Sponsors Local Sprint Line in Cumming for America’s Premiere Cycling Event - the “Ford Tour de Georgia”
First there was the wheel, then the bicycle, train, car and eventually the ‘big rig’ tractor-trailers. In the world of transportation – one leading national transportation company is coming full circle by reaching out to support America’s premiere cycling event – The 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia.
Cardinal Logistics Management Corporation – with offices in Roswell, GA and headquartered in Concord, NC - has signed on as the “Official Local Sprint Line Sponsor” of the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia Maxxis Sprint Line taking place Sunday, April 23 rd at the City of Cumming Fairgrounds on Castleberry Rd.
In addition to serving as an inaugural host start city for the 2006 Ford Tour de Georgia, Cumming and Forsyth County are proud to be designated this year as a MAXXIS Sprint Line community. By hosting a Sprint Line – Cumming/Forsyth will have an opportunity for the community to come out and enjoy professional cycling, while playing a vital role in the overall event.
Cardinal Logistics Management President and COO, local Forsyth County resident, Jerry Bowman, who also serves on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) says his company realizes the importance of supporting the local community-based grassroots events and particularly one that is focused on safety, family fun and a healthy lifestyle.
“Cardinal Logistics is in the business of transportation although our mode of transport typically uses 18 wheels as opposed to two,” explains Cardinal Logistics President and COO, Jerry Bowman. “We have a great respect for the economic impact an event such as the Ford Tour de Georgia will have on our city, state and region. For a world-class event such as the Ford Tour de Georgia – we stand behind our community and state and are delighted to be able to support such an exciting professional sporting event and also help communicate the message of a healthy lifestyle, family fitness and just how important these professional athletes are as positive role models for young people across the country.”
Since 1997, Cardinal has emerged as one of the industry’s fastest growing 3PL’s with annual sales revenues now exceeding $320 million. Cardinal provides a full range of logistics, transportation and warehousing services including: dedicated home and jobsite delivery, dedicated contract carriage, logistics consulting and warehouse/inventory management.
The Ford Tour de Georgia is a world-class, six-day, 600+ mile professional bicycle stage-race beginning in Augusta, April 18 th and concluding the final start in Cumming on Sunday, April 23 rd.
What is a Stage-race?
The Ford Tour de Georgia is a professional cycling event known as a stage-race. This means that the winner is not decided by winning a particular stage or day, but by having the lowest accumulated time after all six days.
What is a MAXXIS Sprint Line Community?
During the course of a stage, there are designated sprint lines throughout the course. Cyclists strive to win these sprints, which are essentially a race within the race. By winning a sprint, the competitors accumulate points. At the end of the last stage the rider who accumulates the most points will win the Maxxis Sprint jersey, and a cash prize. Through Cardinal Logistics Management’s generous contribution and sponsorship of the local Cumming Sprint Line, the winner of the Cumming MAXXIS Sprint race will be awarded a $2,500 purse.
“We consider ourselves a national company that never wants to forget its local roots,” says Bowman, “Supporting the Ford Tour de Georgia is a perfect way to make a difference in a local community, one at a time.”
