ATLANTA, GA (October 4, 2005) - Georgia
Governor Sonny Perdue today announced that Jerry W. Bowman,
54, president and COO of Cardinal Logistics Management Corporation,
has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Georgia
Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA). GRTA is the state
of Georgia authority that works to improve the state
of Georgia's mobility, air quality, and land use practices.
In his new role on the GRTA board, Bowman will work with
his fellow members to assist Governor Perdue’s office
in developing comprehensive transportation policies for the
state of Georgia. Additionally, he will partner with a number
of state and regional agencies including the Georgia Department
of Transportation, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division,
the Atlanta Regional Commission, the State Road and Tollway
Authority and more than 80 governments in a 13-county non-attainment
area in Georgia to prioritize transportation plans and programs
by cooperatively establishing investment priorities and resource
allocations to accomplish GRTA’s mission.
“I’m honored to have been selected by Governor
Perdue to serve on the GRTA board,” said Bowman. “I
look forward to working with this organization to achieve
the Governor and GRTA’s mission of advocating and implementing
a transportation system for Georgia that is multi-modal, seamless
and accessible to all.”
Bowman has served since 2001 as president and chief operating
officer of Cardinal Logistics Management Corporation - a privately
held transportation and third-party logistics firm headquartered
in Concord, NC. He is a member of the Council of Supply Chain
Management Professionals (CSCMP), the Cumming-Forsyth County
Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Retail Industry
Logistics Association (RILA). Bowman earned a bachelor’s
degree from the University of Georgia. He and his wife,
Pamela, are residents of Forsyth County, GA. They have two
children and one grandchild.
