An additional signing ceremony with Battalion Officers
in Harrisburg, PA will be held at the U.S. Army’s Wilkes-Barre
Recruiting Office at 100 Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre
PA at 12:00 p.m. noon on Monday, July 18, 2005.
“The U.S. Army is excited to add Cardinal Logistics
Management to its team of corporate partners in the Partnership
for Youth Success program,” said LTC Kevin Miller, Harrisburg
, PA - Battalion Commander. “We are so proud
of our partnerships like this that enable our recruiters to
offer applicants quality employment opportunities during and
after their Army service.”
PaYS was developed to help the U.S. Army attract, train
and deploy talented young people who want to serve their country,
but also want to help secure their future success once their
Army service is complete. Under terms of the agreement between
USAREC and Cardinal, enlistees interested in gaining specific
job training and qualifications will receive that training
while in the U.S. Army. As part of the enlistment process,
recruits sign a statement of understanding of intent to work
for Cardinal upon completion of their term of service. As
they near the end of their enlistments, the Soldiers will
have the opportunity to interview with Cardinal for a specific
job at a specific location nationwide.
“Cardinal has created a unique market niche in the
retail industry sector – specifically through dedicated
home and job-site delivery transportation services,” explained
Cardinal’s President and COO, Jerry Bowman. “Quality
drivers are the primary reason for Cardinal’s phenomenal
growth in the third-party logistics and transportation industry
and will be our key to future success and expansion”
“ We see the PaYS program as the perfect vehicle for
attracting, training and hiring outstanding employees for
many years to come,” Bowman added. “We are thrilled
and honored to partner with the U.S. Army on this exciting
initiative and look forward to tapping into the incredible
talent, skills and integrity possessed by our country’s
enlisted men and women who join us through this program.”
The Army’s list of corporate partners is growing.
Cardinal Logistics is the newest of more than 100 partners, including:
BellSouth, Caterpillar, HCA, EDS, Lockheed Martin, Sears
Logistics Services Inc., State Farm Insurance, John Deere
Company, The Pepsi Bottling Group, Goodyear, DELL and Southwest
Airlines. Cardinal jobs are scheduled to be available in
the Army’s PaYS database in the coming weeks. For more
information, interested applicants may visit their local recruiter
or log on to www.armypays.com.
“Each year thousands of young men and women develop
valuable skills and gain experience in a broad spectrum of
Army jobs. They are motivated, have professional work habits
and high standards of conduct. This partnership is one way
we can help ensure our soldiers continue to achieve success
after leaving the Army, and that American industry benefits
by gaining quality employees,” Miller said.
