Dedicated Driver in Orlando
, FL Recognized for Extraordinary Service Above and Beyond
the Call of Duty
CONCORD, N.C. (January 31, 2005) – Executives
with Cardinal Logistics Managment (Cardinal) – one
of the nation’s fastest growing third-party logistics
firms – today announced that Claude Lamarre, a dedicated
driver for the Hughes Supply Contracting Team in Orlando FL,
has been named as Cardinal’s 2004 “Driver
of the Year”. In September 2004, Lamarre was named “Driver
of the Month” in recognition of his extraordinary efforts
during the clean-up following the string of deadly hurricanes
that devastated parts of Florida and the Gulf Coast in the
Fall of 2004.
Bryan Alford, Cardinal Operations Manager, who nominated
Lamarre for the recognition could not say enough encouraging
words about Lamarre’s ‘can-do’ attitude
and motivation to others in the company. “Claude i s
always ready to do whatever it takes to get the job done,” Alford
explained. “Whether it is an extra run to cover a delivery,
making emergency deliveries of generators to communities hit
by a Hurricane or assisting fellow Cardinal drivers make repairs
to their homes affected by storm damage, Claude always lends
a helping hand.”
Lamarre was a major source of help with clean-up efforts
associated with Hurricane Charley and preparations for the
onslaught of hurricanes that followed in Florida in the fall
of 2004. According to his Alford, the day after Hurricane
Charley hit, Claude arrived early the next morning running
loads for fellow account Office Depot to get them cleaned
up and returned very late that evening following a multi-stop
delivery. On Sunday morning, he went to back to Hughes Supply
and ran generators down to disaster areas that were hit the
hardest by the storms. The rest of the week he was delivering
transformers, other equipment and supplies to areas in need.
The following weekend, Claude spent time at the home of a
fellow driver whose home sustained heavy tree damage following
the storms.
“He never once said anything about himself or his own
needs, which would have been completely understandable,” Alford
said. “He simply showed up, regardless of the situation
and did whatever was needed to help his customer get the job
done.” Not only did Claude do what his normal job required
of him, but he went well past that point and helped many other
people with his time and efforts. He gave every hour he had
to use and went well beyond the call of duty.”
“Claude Lamarre is a terrific employee who demonstrates
a great attitude and strong commitment to safety and has earned
the admiration of his fellow teammates,” said Vin McLoughlin,
Cardinal’s Chairman of the Board. “He does his
job each day with a smile and then helps where others need
it. Cardinal applauds Claude for all of his efforts and excellence!”
