Partner of the Year and Delivery Carrier Awards Follow New Four-Year
Contract
Concord, N.C. — July 10, 2001 — Cardinal Logistics Management (Cardinal) announced that it was honored by The
Home Depot (NYSE: HD) as both the "Logistics Partner of the
Year" and the "Delivery Carrier of the Year." This
marks the second consecutive year that Cardinal, The Home Depot’s
largest delivery vendor, has received the delivery carrier award.
For the "Partner of the Year Award," Cardinal surpassed
over 200 transportation providers, including Parcel industry giants,
Less than Truckload, Truckload, Rail and Air providers currently
servicing The Home Depot.
Associates of Cardinal and The Home Depot work together in markets
across the U.S. to create the high service levels that The Home
Depot’s customers have come to expect. Cardinal is a "True
believer in the value of our business," as one Home Depot
regional transportation Manager noted. Other reasons given by The
Home Depot’s transportation managers included:
- "Cardinal has created a network of managers and drivers
that embody The Home Depot values and culture."
- "Cardinal delivery truly rose to the occasion when presented
with the challenge of quickly starting up an effective and
efficient delivery operation in Puerto Rico."
- "Designed and implemented significant cost savings."
- "Cardinal has been a great partner who has put things
together in a short period of time in order to pilot new processes/programs
to improve our delivery for our customers."
"
Over the past three years, Cardinal has grown exponentially in
scope and standing with The Home Depot," said Wayne Gibson,
senior vice president of global logistics, The Home Depot. "Cardinal
cares for our customers with the same degree of passion that we
expect from our associates. Additionally, Cardinal helps question
our processes to help grow The Home Depot’s market share.
This is a lofty award and we are thrilled to present this recognition
to our outstanding partners at Cardinal. The Cardinal folks are
people you can trust to take care of your logistics needs and most
importantly your customers."
Cardinal’s services to The Home Depot include dedicated
carriage and home and job-site delivery services. The account,
which has required Cardinal to launch service to multiple sites
across the country under significant time constraints, has made
the most of Cardinal’s national reach and depth. Based on
Cardinal’s performance in its original contract with The
Home Depot, the two companies agreed last September to extend the
relationship to cover a large portion of The Home Depot’s
delivery business contract. "These awards, particularly the
Partner of the Year honor, truly validate Cardinal’s approach
to the transportation business," said Vin McLoughlin, Cardinal’s
chief executive officer. "Our objective is to grow our business
one satisfied client at a time. To do that in today’s competitive
market, we have made a commitment to be intimately involved with
our customer’s businesses. When we have that kind of relationship
we can work with our clients, to create solutions that reflect
their values and exceed their expectations. Our commitment is the
same for every customer."
