Concord, N.C. -- February 28, 2001 -- Cardinal Logistics Management Inc. (Cardinal), a leading provider of integrated transportation solutions, today announced that it has moved from general asset-based transportation services to a streamlined operation with a focus on two core offerings: dedicated delivery and logistics management. The transition, which began with the sale last year of the company's van and flatbed divisions, reflects a natural evolution towards value-added services that make the most of Cardinal's expertise, innovation and customer focus. Backed by nearly $15 million in additional funding over the last six months from Golder, Thoma, Cressey and Rauner Inc. (GTCR), Cardinal's financial partners, the company will deliver unparalleled service in these core areas.

According to Vin McLoughlin, CEO of Cardinal, "Our goal for 2001 is to focus our efforts on those areas where we bring the greatest value to our customers and, by extension, where we see the greatest growth opportunities. To do so, we have reorganized to concentrate on those operations that have accounted for all of our strong growth over the past three years."

While the trucking industry is expected to grow by 3 percent annually between 2000 to 2008, according to Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown analyst John Barnes; projections for the dedicated delivery and logistics market are on the order of 15-20 percent, according to Dick Armstrong, president of Armstrong & Associates, a logistics management consulting firm specializing in outsourcing projects. "This is a smart move by Cardinal. The decision to refocus its efforts on the dedicated delivery and logistics management services speaks directly to the significant marketplace opportunities," said Armstrong.

Cardinal has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner and employs the most professional drivers in the business. These unique attributes position the company well to continue its excellent recent growth in these areas. Specifically, Cardinal will work with customers to streamline their logistics operations and improve their bottom line through the following services:

  • Dedicated Delivery
  • Turn-key Transportation Systems
  • Private Fleet Replacement
  • Existing Fleet Supplements
  • Specialized Delivery Services to Home/Office
  • Logistics Management
  • Carrier, Information and Claims Management
  • Mode Analysis, Consolidation and Optimization
  • Order Visibility
  • Consulting Services

Cardinal will also enhance its logistics management services by offering a web-native transportation management system through its affiliate Clicklogistics. The system, called Clicklogistics Online™, will allow Cardinal project managers to offer a comprehensive mix of logistics management services to meet the needs of their clients.

"Cardinal's focus is more defined, but what has made us unique in the marketplace remains: expertise, trust, innovation and a commitment to our customers," said McLoughlin.
